Geocaching

We started geocaching about two years ago.  A friend of ours did a presentation on this hobby and it sounded like lots of fun.  Plus, we were able to include our pooch in this hobby as well.  If you are not familiar with the hobby, you use a hand-held GPS to find small hidden treasure boxes called "caches".  They could be of varying sizes from a cache the size of a small twig all the way up to an old army ammo box.  The small twig sized caches normally only contain the log to sign (you usually have to bring your own pencil for those).  But the treasure is being able to find those "micro" caches.  The treasures that are in the larger caches are usually pencils, stickers, happy meal prizes, pez dispensers, key chains, small toys.  What ever the geocacher decides to put in the cache.  Yes, when you find the cache, you can take a prize, but it is only fair to leave a prize behind as well for the next geocacher.  This hobby gets you outside and back to nature.

Check out the Geocaching.com website for more information.  Our profile is listed as "lrudzki" if you want to see the progress we have made.
